A Comprehensive Guide to Using the Tenovi RPM Blood Pressure Monitor

Tenovi RPM Blood Pressure Monitor (BPM) - how does it work?

High blood pressure affects 119.9 million Americans, putting them at increased risk of heart disease, stroke, chronic kidney disease, and other serious complications. Managing high blood pressure is challenging for patients and healthcare providers due to gaps between in-office visits. The Tenovi remote patient monitoring (RPM) blood pressure monitor provides an effective solution.

This FDA-cleared device allows patients to track vital signs from home while giving clinicians greater visibility between office visits. The Tenovi RPM blood pressure monitor aims to facilitate earlier interventions and improved outcomes by capturing and transmitting daily blood pressure and heart rate data.

The following article is a comprehensive guide to using the FDA-cleared Tenovi Blood Pressure Monitor (BPM). It covers how the device works, key features and accuracy, simple setup and operation, best practices for getting accurate measurements, and the technical support available to help patients and providers get the most out of remote monitoring. First, an RPM blood pressure monitor is a medical device used to help manage a range of health conditions, including:

  • High Blood Pressure: Patients with hypertension may use a remote blood pressure monitor to track their readings and adjust their treatment plans as necessary.
  • Heart disease: Patients with heart disease use a remote blood pressure monitor to track their blood pressure.
  • Diabetes: Patients with diabetes are at increased risk of developing hypertension and may use remote blood pressure monitoring to manage their blood pressure.
  • Chronic kidney disease: Patients with chronic kidney disease are at increased risk of developing hypertension and may require close blood pressure monitoring to prevent further kidney damage.
  • High-risk pregnancy: Pregnant women with hypertension may use a remote blood pressure monitor to track their blood pressure.

Tenovi Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) Blood Pressure Monitor

An RPM blood pressure monitor helps primary care physicians and specialists identify complications early and provide prompt treatment in-between visits. Blood pressure monitors are even being used in mental healthcare to enhance patient outcomes, improve accessibility, and deliver customized care. A remote blood pressure monitor measures and displays systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and heart rate.

The top number is the systolic blood pressure measurement. This indicates pressure in the arteries when the heart beats. In comparison, the bottom number is diastolic blood pressure measurement. This shows the amount of pressure in between heartbeats.

According to the American Heart Association, any reading above 130 mmHg is considered hypertensive. Additionally, any reading above 80 mmHg is considered hypertensive.

Tenovi RPM Blood Pressure Monitor Features

Tenovi’s RPM Blood Pressure Monitor is an FDA-cleared device with industry-leading accuracy. And it works right out of the box, eliminating the hassle of device setup. It comes with a tabletop monitor and a cuff that is available in two sizes.

Key features include the following.

  • Measures systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate.
  • FDA-cleared, CE, and EN certified with industry-leading accuracy.
  • Large, easy-to-read digital display.
  • Irregular heartbeat and body motion detection.
  • Transmits data through a cellular network with the Tenovi Cellular Gateway.

How Does the Tenovi BPM Work?

The Tenovi Cellular Gateway powers the Tenovi BPM. Patients connect the Tenovi Cellular Gateway one time and take daily blood pressure measurements. The device is user-friendly. For example, an LED ring on the Gateway turns green to confirm the measurement is successfully transmitted.

The Tenovi BPM automatically transmits data wirelessly to the Tenovi cloud. Through Tenovi’s advanced system integrations, physicians can view the measurements in the Tenovi dashboard or their proprietary platform. Finally, the Gateway LED turns red every morning, reminding the patient to take their daily measurement.

How to Use the Tenovi RPM Blood Pressure Monitor

To use the Tenovi RPM Blood Pressure Monitor, wrap the cuff around the upper arm (ensure the cuff is on bare skin, not clothing) and press the middle button. The cuff will inflate, measure blood pressure, and automatically send the data to the RPM platform.

For the best results, patients are encouraged to:

  • Relax for about 5 minutes before measuring.
  • Sit comfortably and avoid crossing their legs.
  • Keep their arm rested on top of a table or armrest.
  • Empty the bladder.
  • Measure around the same time every day.
  • Avoid eating, exercise, caffeine, and alcohol for at least half an hour before.
  • Take the measurement twice, about a minute apart, to ensure accuracy, and then average the numbers.
